Citizenship Verification

The Federal Government, through the Department of Homeland Security, has mandated that all states adopt the SAVE Program. (8 U.S.C. § 1611 and 8 U.S.C. § 1621) In turn, the states, Georgia included, have mandated their political subdivisions-counties and municipalities-also adopt the program.(O.C.G.A. § 50-36-1)

Pursuant to the SAVE Program, the City of Macon requires any person applying on behalf of a business entity, to receive a benefit from the City, to execute an affidavit regarding his or her citizenship.

Contractors who anticipate purchasing a permit from Inspection and Fees may complete the citizenship affidavit (attached below), have it notarized and mail back to Inspection and Fees at the following address.

Note: We must also have a current copy of a Georgia business license (any municipality in Georgia is acceptable) and "state card" (if applicable) on file in order to accept a citizenship affidavit. If you do not know if we have these current documents on file you can mail a copy along with the affidavit.
