On Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at 4:00 pm, Former Mayor C. Jack Ellis and the Economic & Community Development Department (ECDD) of the City of Macon announced the Hanson Street Redevelopment Project and had the Groundbreaking on the future site of the first newly constructed home under this project.

This redevelopment project will entail working with property owners and residents in the Hanson Street area to participate in the Macon Neighborhood Challenge initiatives offered by ECDD, which include the Home Improvement Program (HIP) and the Home Purchase Program (HPP).

To date, there have been 15 properties identified as possible recipients of the Home Improvement Program, and 10 properties for the Home Purchase Program. A Community Outreach Center is also in development for this area. For more information, please email ecddept@macon.ga.us .
