The
City of Macon – Vehicle Maintenance Department
goal is to insure that all services request
received the highest level of attention we can
provide. Customer service and satisfaction is
our first priority.
What
we do
We
perform all functions of maintenance such as
body work which consists of rust repair, damage
repair, and painting, brake repairs, engine/transmission
overhauls, routine oil changes, electronic analyzing
& repairs, welding, fabricating and other
tasks as requested.
With
a fully-trained staff available at all times,
it allows for flexibility in repairing equipment
at a moments notice, thus saving in equipment
downtime. Also, it is a tremendous asset to
have the same mechanics working on familiar
equipment, again providing for reduced expenses
and increased maintenance expectations.
Vehicle
Maintenance has a natural gas fueling facility
located at 1122 Seventh Street. This facility
is to be utilized by private citizens, private
fleets and, municipal fleets. The City currently
operates over sixty (60) natural gas powered
vehicles.
There
are 18 people employed by this department and
it is located at 1122 Seventh Street. The Vehicle Maintenance department maintains three fueling stations within the city limits. They are located at 1122 Seventh Street, 505 Tenth Street, and Lot 682 Eric Drive. These fuel facilities are available 24 hours a day - seven days a week. The fueling facility located at 1122 Seventh Street offers natural and propane gas to municipal and private fleets, as well as non-profits. State regulations and laws prohibit sales to private citizens. The Vehicle Maintenance Department promotes fuel and energy conservation. There are currently over sixty (60) natural gas powered vehicles in the City of Macon fleet.

Involvement
We
believe in community involvement. We have sponsored
car care clinics for the community, supported
youth internship programs and participated in
career development fairs.

to Using Alternative Fuels
The
City of Macon is 100% alternative fuel or fuel
blend. Our vehicle run on B20, E10, Propane,
Compressed Natural Gas and Electric.
