The
Economic and Community Development Department’s mission is
to promote diversity and economic development in the community
and enhance the living and working choices for all Macon citizens.
Economic and Community Development oversees the Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership
grants that the City receives from the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The
Macon – Bibb County Office of Emergency Management has been
an integral part of the organizational structure of the City
of Macon and Bibb County since 1961. The mission of the Macon
– Bibb County Emergency Management Agency is to prepare for,
respond to, and recover from a host of potential hazards and
threats that may affect the citizens of Macon – Bibb County.
The
Engineering Department is reponsible for Land Surveying/Engineering
Investigating, evaluating, designing and overseeing construction
of many types of civil engineering projects for the public’s
well-being. The Engineering Department also surveys City-owned
properties and prepares drawings of same. The Engineering
Department is responsible for storm drainage improvements
and charged with carrying out the Federal Mandate on Non-Pollutant
Discharge Elimination Systems.
The
City of Macon Finance Department, comprised of 19 full-time
employees, and 1 part-time employee is responsible for the
financial operations of the City of Macon, and serves as a
financial advisor to the Administration, City Council, and
both pension funds.
The Fire Department provides efficient and effective fire and rescue services to the residents of the City of Macon and Bibb County. Fire Administration Office oversees and assures the smooth operation of all divisions.
The
Human Resources Department provides essential personnel support
services for the City's 1,300 person work force, including:
Personnel policies and guidelines affecting all employees.
Wage and salary administration, employee classification and
evaluation. Recruiting, employing, and processing all new
employees for the City.
The Bureau of Inspections and fees is a city department with jurisdiction in both city and the unincorporated areas of Bibb County. The department's primary function is the administration and enforcement of building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire and accessibility codes, which regulates the built environment for the protection of life and property. The department is also responsible for the enforcement of the Property Maintenance Code within the City of Macon ensuring the maintenance of existing commercial and multi-family properties.
The mission of the office of internal auditing is to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the City’s operations. It helps the City accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
The City of Macon is committed to providing its employees with the resources necessary to perform their job duties. In furtherance of that commitment, the City has provided employees with the use of electronic systems. The IT Department's function is to research, manage and maintain these IT systems.
